Nokia upgrade 5800 Xpress to a capacitive touchscreen

Nokia, the 5800 Xpress Music mobile phones and upgrade to a capacitive touchscreen, tips from Taiwan part of the phone would say. Although the construction of the Nokia 5800 is a resistive touch screen, the pressure and it is sometimes better suited to a pen-input as a finger, the company has allegedly ordered a capacitive switch on screens, with the explicit objective of the ability of rival Apple iPhone and newer phones such as Korean LG Arena or the Samsung i8910 (HD Omnia). Approximately 2 million upgrade of the mobile phones shipped in May-June on the basis of these plans.

It is not sure whether the N97 is also the treatment. The rumor suggests that the more advanced touch-screen mobile ship in the spring, but Electronista has heard of Nokia employees that they are more likely to ship in July and now has only tried to prototype with resistive touch screens.

More phones with capacitive screens are to be expected and an ultra-thin device to a model with a QWERTY keyboard.

The Nokia 5800 is one of the most popular models and 3 million units sold in the first four months of its existence. It is at times as a budget alternative to the iPhone, and is therefore most likely to benefit from a shift to a capacitive screen.
